When Curt served on the Low Income Advocacy Council in Montpelier, he learned that one of the primary issues people in poverty face is finding affordable housing. Today, Burlington continues to face a housing market that puts working families out in the cold.
Curt purchased and is currently rehabbing a once condemned property on North Winooski Avenue, trying to create three affordable housing units.
Curt is focused on three goals when it comes to creating more affordable housing here in Burlington:
(1) Increase Vermont’s investment in the Housing Conservation Trust, a program he helped create to build more affordable housing and offer more good paying jobs.
(2) Will work with UVM and Champlain College to build more on campus housing to relieve the pressure of the ever-increasing cost of renting and home prices in the Old North End.
(3) Will work to increase job opportunities in Burlington’s growing Green Economy, expanding our use of renewable energy and promote energy conservation.
